The front cover of Kerrang magazine attracts people to the cover by using interesting eye-catching colours, like lime green, or using pictures of well known musicians. The main picture on this issue is of Billy-Joe from Green Day, this will attract readers because he has a huge amount of fans that would be willing to pay for the magazine to read about him, and what he’s up to. Also, the Kerrang logo itself attracts people because it’s so well known, anyone interested in music could buy the magazine just because of the name, and maybe not even consider the content. The logo also stands out from the rest of the magazine because it’s white, whereas the rest of the cover uses mainly darker colours to fit in with the music genre of rock. The text uses green, yellow and white colours which contrast with the blue background. It is scattered over the front cover to make it look a bit messy and so you are attracted to every part of the cover to read and see everything there is. There are several taglines used, for example ‘Green Day: This is the best show out there!’ These small lines make the reader more interested on the inside of the magazine because they want to find out exactly what the ‘best show out there’ is. The titles of the taglines attract the reader to carry on looking into the magazine because they give a small sneak preview of what information there is on the inside. A big name used such as Harry Potter could also interest some people as they may want to find out about his link with Kerrang magazine. ‘New albums: The K! Verdict. Muse – Megadeth – All Time Low’ can attract fans of these bands obviously because they would like to know about the latest releases and albums from their favourite bands. Underneath this tagline, there’s a small circular box that says ‘Plus! Over 20 more reviewed!’ this will maybe interest people that aren’t huge fans of the main bands, but would like to see if their favourite bands are mentioned too. There is an almost over-usage of exclamation marks on this front cover, in total there are eight. Because there are so many, it makes you want to read everything because it’s almost shouting everything at you and calling you to read it. In my opinion this magazine is aimed at teenagers because that’s the majority of people that listen to this style of music, and I think it does its job brilliantly. It has everything that you would want. There’s information on the coolest bands and there’s young people slang e.g. ‘WTF?!’ which gives it that 'delicate' teenage touch.
